    The Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grand now assists more than 8 million South African citizens. The grant is referred to as the R350 grant due to the amount received by the beneficiaries. 

    Adults in South Africa who are unemployed are offered the R350 grant as a kind of assistance. The R350 grant will be given to eligible beneficiaries by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) until the end of March 2024. Adults who meet the eligible criteria are required to submit the R350 grant application in June 2023.

    Eligibility for SASSA R350 grant application


    It is important to know your eligibility for the SRD SASSA R350 grant before applying to understand the eligibility requirements for the grant. The following criteria are required according to the current eligibility requirements:

    • Citizenship: You must be a citizen of South Africa, a permanent resident, or a refugee to qualify for this program.

    • Income: It is important that your household's income is below a specific limit given by SASSA.

    • Age: The applicant's age at the time of application must be between 18 and 60.

    • Unemployment: You must be unemployed and should not get any other government assistance to be eligible. 

    • Asset restrictions: To be eligible for this program, you must not own any sizable assets or investments.

    • For asylum seekers in South Africa: They must have a permit or visa that was issued under section 22 of the Immigration Act in order to be eligible.


    The R350 Grant online application process

    Step 1: Go to the SRD grant official website (www.sassa.gov.za)

    Step 2: Pick the "Click here to apply on online"

    Step 3: Enter your registered mobile number and then select "Send SMS"

    Step 4: The number you gave will get a One Time Pin (OTP)

    Step 5: Put the OTP in the space given on the website

    Step 6: Verify and accept the Declaration provisions and Consent forms.

    Step 7: Enter your information 

    Step 8: Submit your mobile number, employment details, and sustainability information for your lifestyle.

    Step 9: Give your banking information.

    Step 10: Follow the further instruction given there to complete the process.

    Step 1: Add SASSA WhatsApp number ‘082 046 8553' in your contact

    Step 2: Text "SRD Grant" and send it to the given phone number.

    Step 3: If you are applying for yourself (Send the number 1) or on behalf of s4meone else (send the number 2).

    Step 4: Send a message with your name as it is in the identification document.

    Step 5: Send a message with your surname as it is in the identification document.

    Step 6: Read the conditions and select YES to indicate your acceptance of the terms and conditions.

    Step 7: Indicate your citizenship status. If you are a South African citizen (send the number 1), if you are a permanent resident (send the number 2), or if you are a refugee (send the number 3).

    Step 8: Open the link shared with you in the WhatsApp chat.

    Step 9: Verify and accept the Declaration provision and Consent forms.

    Step 10: Type your ID number

    Step 11: Complete the application for your R350 grant by following the instructions.
