How are tuition fees and accommodation costs for medical students in the Caribbean?
Matriculants have to pay an average of USD 19,800 per semester (semesters 1-5) as tuition for the Basic Sciences program. They have to spend an average of USD 23,200 per semester (semesters 6-10)for the Clinical Medicine program. Besides this, students need to pay approximately USD 780 as part-time tuition per credit hour. Notably, this financial information is applicable for matriculants on or before the May semester.
On the other hand, students applying for the September semester have to spend an average of USD 23,500 per semester (semesters 1-5) as tuition for the Basic Sciences program. An average of USD 26,000 is the tuition per semester (semesters 6-10) for Clinical Medicine. Like the May semester, students have to pay USD 780 as part-time tuition per credit hour in the September semester.
Apart from tuition, there are several refundable and non-refundable charges, such as application fee, graduation fee, review fee, shelf exam fee, lab fee, tuition deposit, administrative fee and student activity fee, among various others. In addition, universities in the Caribbean also provide dormitory facilities to unaccompanied first-semester students. First semester students can book a single dorm, fully equipped with an air conditioner, refrigerator and microwave, for USD 2,450. Notably, dormitory fees are payable to dormitory management upon students' arrivalon the university’s campus.
